We went to Target today. And you know what my almost-kindergartner spotted from a mile away?
Yep, I’m sure you do.
Yes, my friends, the time is here. Fourth of July is over, so naturally we jump ahead to back to school time! Now, excuse me while I go cry a little in the corner for a moment… The closer the first day of school gets, the more excited soon-to-be kindergarten baby becomes and the more panicked I become! To make my emotions even more volatile, girlfriend also got her first loose tooth this last week.
She may as well be getting married.
Okay, so not really. But… really.
I digress. Let’s get back on topic: the first day of school is on the horizon! And with the first day of school comes that classic, first-day photo on the front step. You know the ones, because I’m certain you have a swath of them of yourself from the early 90s: the backpack slung cooly over one shoulder, hair done to perfection (complete with butterfly clips).
Somehow, our own children seem to be avoiding the extreme awkwardness that existed when we were kids. And along with that comes cuter first day of school pictures. Yes, we still do them on the front step. But now, we arm our sweet little ones with adorable signs showing which grade they’re in.
So today, I’ve got a set of first day of school signs for you!
No matter if you’re looking for a preschool or senior year sign, I’ve got you covered. All are completely free and print in an 8.5 x 11 format. So download them now or pin them for later. Just don’t pin for too much later, like I’ve done the past few preschool years. Raise your hand if you’re guilty of forgetting about prepping a sign for this momentous occasion until 11:00 the night before, when you find yourself scrambling to print off and glue your sign to a sheet of cardboard, cut from a not-yet-opened box of Lucky Charms.
Well, no matter. Just know that using the cardboard from an old cereal box is a great way to make your first day of school signs a little more substantial if you don’t have any card stock handy when you do print these off.
So go ahead: print or pin it now! And if you’re a first-time kindergarten mom, try not to let your tears smudge the pretty rainbow ink as you pick it up from the printer and wonder how on earth your sweet baby is actually old enough to go to school! Solidarity, momma.
To print, all you need to do is sign up for my blog updates here. And the best part is, once you’re signed up, you’ll have complete access to the Library. Here, all of my freebies are readily available for you to download, print and repeat as you need! It’s totally awesome.
And don’t forget: just because we’re talking about first day of school signs doesn’t actually mean summer is over just yet. Here in Minnesota, we’ve still got a very solid six weeks of sunshine to love on and enjoy our little people! So if you’re needing some more inspiration for these hot days, check out my post full of awesome summer activities for kids!
